Consumerism in the 1950s
caught up in the "economic boom" that took place after WWII. wanted to buy/had the freedom/money to do so. Material goods=success. Credit would expand to allow Americans to keep up with their neighbors.Introduction of the Diner's Club Card (1st credit card-marketed to business men)
