Suppose you have two species of corn. One has sweet kernels and the other has large ears. Both have 20 chromosomes, each of whic

h is homologous in both species. Suppose you want to create a hybrid that has both characteristics of sweet kernels and large ears, so you cross individuals from the two species. The initial hybrid you obtain has 20 chromosomes, but then you establish a viable tetraploid (4n) individual with 40 chromosomes. Which of the following could best explain this observation?
a. Nondisjunction of a single chromosome caused the doubling of the genome.
b. The initial F1 hybrid was unable to produce normal haploid gametes and instead produced diploid gametes. As a result, self-fertilization created progeny with 40 chromosomes.
c. The original F1 hybrid was able to produce normal gametes, thus, the tetraploid was formed by fusing one normal haploid gametes with an abnormal diploid gamete.
d. Nondisjunction of a random set of chromosomes produced abnormal gametes, and thus the 40 chromosomes represent a random assortment of chromosomes from the two parents.
e. None of the above can explain the phenomenon.

As an astronaut goes out into space, her mass _______________ and her weight ____________________.
irinina [24]
As an Astronaut goes out into space, her mass REMAINS THE SAME and her weight DECREASES.
When one travels away from the earth surface, one's mass remains the same but the weight decreases as the gravitation pull decreases.
The experience of weight on earth is as a result of the counteracting forces acting one's body and the ground. When one is in the space, this counteracting force is removed because the ground is no longer pushing back on one's body. Thus, one's weight will decrease in space because gravitational pull is lower above the earth's surface.

Answer:

Calcitonin- reduce blood calcium level

Parathyroid hormone- Raise blood calcium level

Explanation:

The thyroid gland is an endocrine gland which secrete its hormone in the blood directly. Both calcitonin and parathyroid hormone are released by the thyroid gland. Parathyroid hormone is released when the blood calcium level is low.

Parathyroid hormone increases the blood calcium level by osteoclast stimulation which releases calcium from bones and increases blood calcium level. Calcitonin is antagonistic to parathyroid hormone and it  reduce the blood calcium level in the blood by stimulating the activity of osteoblast.

What is a system of organ systems working together called
kompoz [17]
The organs that work together is called systems. It is a group of parts or organs that interact and work together for a common purpose or function. Each of the parts seems to depend to each other in order to achieve their shared functions and goals. When one of the organs in a system becomes dysfunctional, automatically the other  parts cannot function as effective as they were during those times that everybody's in good condition becaus the condition of one organ in the system directly affects the others too.
