Hey there!

First, we have to get rid of the "x" value

So, Divide "2" on each of your sides

Like:  \frac{2x}{2} =  \frac{-16}{2}

Cancel out: \frac{2x}{2} because it gives you the value of 1

Keep: \frac{-16}{2} because it'll give you the outcome of our answer

So, \frac{-16}{2} = -8

Therefore, x = -8

Good luck on your assignment and enjoy your day!

Hey there! :)

If you switch it around, it becomes: -16 ÷ 2 = x
(<em>Remember that the sign changes when moved to the other side</em>)

-16 ÷ 2 = -8

x = -8

Hope this helps :)

From the hay loft door, Ted sees his dog on the ground. The angle of depression of the dog is 40º. Ted's eye level is 16 feet ab
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer: 19 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi, since the situation forms a right triangle (see attachment) we have to apply the next trigonometric function.

Tan α = opposite side / adjacent side

Where α is the angle of depression of the dog, the opposite side (16) is Ted's eye level above the ground, and the adjacent side (x) is the distance between the dog and the barn door.

Replacing with the values given:

tan40 = 16/x

Solving for x

x =16/tan40

x= 19 ft

What’s the solution of y= 3x-1 and y= 3x+4
julia-pushkina [17]

Step-by-step explanation:

solution ? you mean where both lines cross each other ?

these are 2 parallel lines (same slope, but different y-intercept), so they never cross each other.

there is no solution.

formally :

3x - 1 = 3x + 4

-1 = 4

this is wrong. therefore there is no solution.
