The Populist Party, which was also known as the People's Party in some areas, was a progressive political entity that influenced left-wing politics during the 19th century. However, it proved unsuccessful in the long-term because the movement failed to gain support from the south and industrialized areas of the country and to adapt to the changes brought about by the Industrial Revolution.
