A + b = 18
a - b = 4
-------------add
2a = 22
a = 22/2
a = 11

a + b = 18
11 + b = 18
b = 18 - 11
b = 7

ur 2 numbers are 7 and 11

What is - 1/6 + (-7/4) this is 7th gradr math
DedPeter [7]

Hello Bubbleshi !

The first step you need to do is get everything in like terms.

- 1/6 and - 7 /4

Look at the denominator (number on the bottom)

6 and 4 go into 12, so lets check that out.

-1/6 , how can we get 12 from the denominator? Multiply it by 2.

So you multiply both the numerator (number on the top) and the denominator.

-1/6 becomes -2/12.

With -7/4, you want to get the 4 as a 12 (like terms!) so once again you multiply it by 3, and multiply the numerator as well.

-7/4 becomes -21/12.

-2/12 + (-21/12) is your final form of the problem.

You add -2 and -21 in the numerator, which is -23.

So its -23/12 which is your final answer.

Let me know if you need any more help!

Sanjaya is making punch. He uses LaTeX: \frac{1}{3}1 3 c of pineapple juice for every LaTeX: \frac{3}{4}3 4 c of orange juice. H
lord [1]

Answer: 1\dfrac13 cups of pineapple juice .

Step-by-step explanation:

Equation of direct proportion between x and y:

\dfrac{x_1}{y_1}=\dfrac{x_2}{y_2}

As per given,

Let x = quantity of pineapple juice and y = quantity of orange juice.

x_1=\dfrac13\  , y_1=\dfrac34 ,  y_2=3

Put these values in an equation we get

\dfrac{\dfrac13}{\dfrac34}=\dfrac{x_2}{3}\\\\\Rightarrow\ \dfrac{4}{9}=\dfrac{x_2}{3}\\\\\Rightarrow\ x_2=3\times\dfrac{4}{9}=\dfrac{4}{3}\\\\\Rightarrow\ x_2=1\dfrac13

Hence, he needs 1\dfrac13 cups of pineapple juice .
