The answer is the third person. The lottery by Shirley Jackson is being told by the third person point of view.

EXPLANATION

Written by Shirley Jackson, The Lottery short story was first published on June 26, 1948. It was on the issue of the New Yorker. The Lottery is mostly known as the most well-known short stories in American literature.

In this short story, she described an imaginary small town that’s located in contemporary America. This small town believes of a rite that’s called the lottery. The main goal of the lottery rite is to pick one target to be stoned to death. This rite is done to ensure the community’s continued well-being.

Many critics came up after the publication of The Lottery. Readers had a lot of negative response, and they even canceled their subscription to The New Yorker. Jackson and The New Yorker received so much hate email over the summer after The Lottery was first published. The Union of South Africa even prohibited this story.

The Lottery has been dramatized several times over the years. It is also used in study sessions as an analysis of the sociological and literary field. Until now, The Lottery is still being read and studied at many Universities and places.
