The assimilation between the two nations was forced upon the Native Americans and it was an attempt to destroy traditional Indian cultural identities. The two major federal assimilation policies are as follows:

1. Economic activity was monitored between the Indian nations and the government of America. 2. The Allotment act was passed forcing the Native Americans to become small landowners or farmers.
