Free trade is a common feature of modern societies. However, the advantages and disadvantages of it are not always clear. One of the advantages of free trade is that it encourages international cooperation. As countries exchange goods, they usually try to maintain a peaceful relationship. However, one argument against free trade is that is leads to a race to the bottom, as countries try to constantly be more competitive. This could lead to bad consequences, such as limiting environmental protection measures.

It can limit environmental protection measures. - i don't think this is a very good option, but its the best of those given. Let's say that one country prohibits production which is enviromentally harmful, but cheap: a free trade would challenge this deciosn.
