We use pronouns so that we are not repetitive. Without pronouns, our writing would sound something like this: Maria went to the beach. Maria picked up a seashell. With pronouns, we can replace Maria with the pronoun "she." Doing so will reduce repetition in our writing and it'll now sound much better.
