The Double V campaign sought equal rights for African Americans thanks to their efforts during the war. Established by the <em>Pittsburgh Courier, </em>the constant oppression African Americans had endured made them eager to achieve change, freedom and equality. This campaign attempted to integrate African American population to an equal society. The campaign was the seed for the civil rights movement that helped to grant equality to African Americans.
The losses in the Middle East were staggering: the war not only ravaged the land and decimated armies, it destroyed whole societies and economies. In this way, the experience of World War I in the Middle East is perhaps more akin to the experience of World War II in Europe.
