What two effects are there to Militarism that effected other countries during WWI?

The militarization in WW1 created, as a consequence, countries which could have been at the time considered to be war factories where every citizen played his part to keep the war machine running. This is probably the main effect of militarism. The other was an increased advancement of technologies.
