Paternalism generally involves competing for claims between individual liberty and authoritative social control. A policy or practice of treating people in a fatherly manner, especially by providing for their needs without giving them rights or responsibilities is known as paternalistic. ForExample Wearing helmets while riding a motorcycle. Or Banning certain drugs. Or Wearing a seat belt while driving a car.
