William Faulkner's story "A Rose for Emily" concludes, "One of us lifted something from it, and leaning forward, that faint and

invisible dust dry and acrid in the nostrils, we saw a long strand of iron-gray hair." If you were to include this sentence in an essay, would you have to add a citation?

Answer: yes, it must be added.

Explanation: whenever you include a literal sentence in a project, from another author, you must add a citation form with at least the following information: name of the document you copied the sentence of (in this example, "A Rose For Emiliy"), the author of the document, the page number where the sentence appears, and the year of publication of the document.
