So the way to determine is to find the density of your unknown metal. To do that, you know density is g/mL or g/cm3. So, you do 979/58. It is approximately 16.88 g/mL. So, the density is more than pure gold. (A)

I’m not 100% sure that mL = cm3 for this case so make sure you check that but that’s what I think the answer is!

Suppose x=0.5(300-x). what is the value of x?
Sonbull [250]

Expand

x = 150 - 0.5x

Add 0.5x to both sides

x + 0.5x = 150

Simplify x + 0.5x to 1.5x

1.5x = 150

Divide both sides by 1.5

x = 150/1.5

Simplify 150/1.5 to 100

<u>x = 100</u>

-X² + 5x - 6 = 2<br> Using the quadratic formula
Ivenika [448]

-x^2+5x-6=2\\-x^2+5x-6-2=0\\-x^2+5x-8=0\\

↝ Form into ax^2+bx+c = 0 where a > 0 (Optional)

x^2-5x+8=0 ↝ Multiply -1 for both sides.

↝ Then proceed with the Quadratic Formula.

x = [-b ± (√b²-4ac)]/2a ↝ Quadratic Formula

x=\frac{-(-5)+-\sqrt{(-5)^2-4(1)(8)}}{2(1)}\\x=\frac{5+-\sqrt{25-32}}{2}\\

↝ As you can see that inside the square root, the numbers cannot be negative. Therefore, the solutions are imaginary.

↝ Solution with Real Numbers  System ↝  There are no real solutions.

↝ Solution with Complex Number System ↝

x=\frac{5+-\sqrt{25-32}}{2}\\x=\frac{5+-\sqrt{-7}}{2}\\x=\frac{5+-\sqrt{7}i }{2}

Therefore, the answer for Complex Number System is (5±√7i)/2

STUV~CBED.<br> What is the similarity ratio of STUV to CBED?
ASHA 777 [7]

The similarity ratio of STUV to CBED is 0.5

<h3>How to determine the similarity ratio of STUV to CBED?</h3>

For the shapes to have a similarity ratio, it means that:

The shapes are similar (not necessarily congruent)

From the diagram, the following sides are corresponding sides

ST and CB

Where

ST = 2

CB = 1

The similarity ratio of STUV to CBED is calculated as:

Ratio = CB/ST

Substitute the known values in the above equation

Ratio =1/2

Evaluate

Ratio = 0.5

Hence, the similarity ratio of STUV to CBED is 0.5
