How can superimposed boundaries lead to conflicts between pre-existing ethnic groups?
drek231 [11]

Answer:

By causing some of the preexisting ethnic groups to become inferior and be ignored completely.

Explanation:

Culture can be defined as the general way of life of a group of people living together in a particular location or society.

Basically, culture comprises of beliefs, values, behaviors, language, dressing, cuisine, music, symbols, arts, social habits, knowledge, customs, laws pertaining to a particular group of people living together in a society.

This ultimately implies that, culture are acquired and passed from one generation to another to form an ethnic group.

A superimposed boundary can be defined as the boundary imposed on a geographical region or area by a colonizing, conquering or an external power and as a result of this, the preexisting cultural organizations and patterns are completely ignored.

Some examples of a superimposed boundary is the geometric boundary between Uganda and Kenya, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, as well as other boundaries imposed on Africa by the Europeans during the era of colonialism.

Hence, superimposed boundaries can lead to conflicts between pre-existing ethnic groups because it would cause the weaker ethnic groups among the preexisting ethnic groups to become inferior and greatly ignored due to the actions of a conquering or external ethnic group.
