The petrified man is a short story by Eudora Welty published in 1939 it centers its attention in two gossiping ladies at a cosmetic shop.

B)Mrs. Fletcher does not want anyone to know that she is going to be a mother.

As mrs fletcher is pregnant and doesn´t want people to gossip about her, she gets mad at the fact that se realizes that people is talking about her.
