Answer:

Okay, so I guess they also want to figure out the set up charge also- this is going to be a 2 variable equation.

X is the fee per person, and y is the set up charge.

25x+ y= 525

75x + y= 1475

So what you need to do is pick an equation, then isolate x:

25x + y= 525

25x= 525 -y

x= (525 - y)/25

Then, plug this in for x in the other equation:

75x + y= 1475    (original problem)

75((525 - y)/25) +y =1475       (subbed in x from other equation)

(75*525 -75y)/25 +y=1475     (distributed 75) (also could be multiplying fractions; 75/1)

(39375- 75y)/25 +y = 1475       (next I am simplifying the fraction)

1575 -3y +y = 1475        (Subtracting 1575; combining y's)

-2y = -100 (divide both sides by -2)

y=50

Okay, so now we know what the set up charge is- let's plug it into the unaltered first equation. (Note: At this point, you could really sub it into either equation and solve for x.)

25x+ y= 525

25x + 50 = 525

25x= 475

x= 19

Let's double check by subbing in y to the other equation as well:

75x + y= 1475

75x +50= 1475

75x= 1425

x= 19

Yay! It checks out in both problems!

Hope this helps, make sure to get a good night's sleep still.

You plan to go skiing this weekend in Tennessee. The ski resort charges $18.50 per hour in addition to a $100 deposit to rent sk
Rina8888 [55]

Answer:

Part a) y=18.50x+100

Part b) The total cost is \$220.25

Part c) see the explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

Part a) Write a linear equation to represent this situation

Define the variables

Let

x ----> the number of hours

y ----> the total cost in dollars

we know that

The linear equation in slope intercept form is equal to

y=mx+b

where

m is the slope or the unit rate

b is the y-intercept or initial value (value of y when the value of x is equal to zero)

In this problem we have that

The unit rate or slope is equal to

m=\$18.50\ per\ hour

The y-intercept or initial value is equal to

b=\$100

substitute

y=18.50x+100

Part b) Use the equation to find the total cost to rent skis from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm

Remember that

3:00 pm=15:00

so

from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, the total hours is equal to

15:00 -8:30=6:30=6.5 h

For x=6.5 h

substitute in the linear equation and solve for y

y=18.50(6.5)+100\\y=\$220.25

Part c) What does your answer mean in context of the problem?

we have that

y=220.25

That means -----> The total cost to rent skis for 6.5 hours is equal to $220.25

The coordinates of which point are (–3, –6)? On a coordinate plane, point A is (negative 3, 6), point B is (negative 6, negative
lana [24]

Given:

The coordinates of a point are (-3,-6).

To find:

The point on the coordinate plane whose coordinates are (-3,-6).

Solution:

From the given information of coordinate plane, it is clear that

Coordinates of point A are (-3, 6).

Coordinates of point B are (-6,-3)

Coordinates of point C are (-3,-6)

Coordinates of point D are (3,-6)

It is clear that, only point C has coordinates (-3,-6).

So, the required point is C.

Therefore, the correct option is C.
