The following emotions are emphasized through the author’s use of first person point of view from the point were the author was told that the dog had been 'Arressted'.

1. I said in astonishment. 'What do you mean?'”,

2. "I was bewildered. 'What are you talking about? A dog can’t be arrested.'”, and

3. His relief when he found out that the officer was joking about the arrest. “'Well, you certainly took me in,'” I said. “Arrested indeed!'”.

The first one was said in astonishment. In The second one he was bewildered and surprised.

The third one ended with an exclamation mark. Exclamation mark shows surprise, astonishment, or any other strong emotion.
