Regents of the University of California vs Bakke was a ruling of the US Supreme Court that allowed the race to be one of the several factors to be considered in the college admission policies. Among the court's statements, it mentioned that the implementation of quotas set aside for ethnical minorities which were intended by the University of California, Davis School of medicine was not permitted. This ruling was one of the numerous efforts throughout history in the process of integration of African Americans to American society.
