The statement that best explains how the idea of Manifest Destiny led to the Mexican-American War would be that "<span>Mexico was a barrier to achieving what many believed was America’s destiny to expand to the Pacific," since Manifest Destiny held that the US was "destined" to expand all the way to the West Coast. </span>

I believe the answer is: "Mexico was a barrier to achieving what many believed was America’s destiny to expand to the Pacific,

At that time, the government of Mexico refuse to sell their lands to united states due to the amount of oil reserve that they have in their territory. This become a hindrance for American government who at that time were willing to make huge investment to expand their territory, This lead to the Mexican american war that occurred for around 2 years.

The compromise of 1850 was nessacery because?
Komok [63]

Answer: The Compromise of 1850 was necessary because the North and the South were badly split on the issue of the lands that had been taken from Mexico in the recent war. California wanted to enter the Union as a free state, but that would have upset the balance between free and slave states.

How do both cartoons indicate the artists’ concern for workers?
Alex_Xolod [135]
Each cartoon demonstrates the power of the Titans during the Gilded Age. In the first they are riding on the backs of the poor immigrants looking disheveled and weak and in the second the octopus is strangling the worker. Both present a view that the worker is being exploited or destroyed by the greed of the Titans.
The octopus is appropriate imagery as it shows the varied reach of companies like Standard Oil. They were in control of the government, banks, workers, etc. The octopus is ominous and comes out of nowhere but is ultimately dangerous in how they can extend in many directions and can hold on tight making all in the grasp helpless.
