The type of special appeal the argument demonstrates is a): false analogy.

A false analogy is an informal fallacy, it applies to inductive arguments, like the one in this excerpt. It is an informal fallacy because the error is about what the argument is about, and not the argument itself.

The argument given by the opponent is a valid argument, but it is wrong in the context since the debate is focused specifically on the topic of whether new laws are needed to prevent distracted driving, not on every action that causes driving accidents. It would be valid in other debate, but not in this one, although the subject "driving accidents" is common on both.

What portion of genes would you share with a woman who is yours mothers biological sister?
Leni [432]

Personally, I would say that I share social traits with my aunts and strange attitudes sometimes. For example: In nature I’m very extroverted and don’t think about future consequences. That wouldn’t be a good thing if I actually were to confront the real world without some sort of guidance or chaperone. Also, I like art such as painting and drawing. It’s a passion my mother does not share with me. I know of aunts who have my same passion and have a wild-extroverted nature.

How is this excerpt of an expository essay organized? EXCERPT: CONVERSATIONAL BALLGAMES
tekilochka [14]

I searched the excerpt which name is conversational ballgames and after I read it I got to the conclusion that it is organized the following way:

1. First, the author COMPARES the western-style conversation with the tennis game and she says that they are similar because in the western style when the person who is talking introduce a topic then she/he is expecting the other person to agree or disagree and keep talking about the reasons why, she says that she only doesn’t wait for you to agree or disagree, she expected more than that. Just like in the tennis game, if you throw the ball you expect from the other person to hit it back.

2. And then, when the author talks about Japanese-style conversation, she says that it isn’t like tennis or volleyball at all; there, she CONTRASTS the Japanese-style conversation with the two other games saying how different the games are from the Japanese-style.
