The United States formed NASA to help with the Cold War Space Race that lasted from 1957 to 1975. The reason for this creation of NASA is because the United States was behind in the Space Race since the Russians first launched the first man made satellite Sputnik 1.

The United States formed NASA in 1958 to compete with USSR after its launch of the first-ever space missile “Sputnik” in 1947.

Further Explanations:

Sputnik the first-ever satellite wastossed in the elliptical low-slung orbit of the earth on 4th October 1947 by Russian scientists. After its success, the United States too desired to have the same technology in order to compete with USSR.The spirit of competition led to the upsurge of new technological conflict, which was termed as “Space War”. It is believed the Space Race era commenced in somewhat during 1957 and persisted till 1975.During the era, numerous scientific institutes were established during the era of which one was NASA or National Aeronautics and Space Administration. NASA was recognized in 1958 to establish a successful step in space exploration. Some of its accomplishment is Apollo Moon Landing, Skylab, and installation of the International Space Station.

Which statement best describes the problem illustrated
Annette [7]

Answer:

C. The damage to all living things caused by insecticides

Explanation:

Late in the 1950s, Carson turned her attention to conservation problems, the ones that she believed were caused by synthetic pesticides. In 1962, she wrote a book about her findings titled "Silent Spring", which brought environmental concerns to the American limelight. Silent Spring was met with fierce opposition by chemical companies, but it still went on to spurr a reversal in national pesticide policy, which led to a nationwide ban on DDT and other pesticides. And it also inspired a grassroots environmental movement that led to the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

What complications could have occurred for ex-slaves when their names were chosen or changed?
Kaylis [27]

In some instances, Federal officials expedited the naming process by furnishing the names themselves, and invariably the name would be the same as that of the freedman’s most recent master. But these appear to have been exceptional cases; the ex-slaves themselves usually took the initiative—like the Virginia mother who changed the name of her son from Jeff Davis, which was how the master had known him, to Thomas Grant, which seemed to suggest the freedom she was now exercising. Whatever names the freed slaves adopted, whether that of a previous master, a national leader, an occupational skill, a place of residence, or a color, they were most often making that decision themselves. That was what mattered.
