Why do you think lake Atitlan and other similar places are the origins of so many legends?
neonofarm [45]

Answer:

There are so many legends about lake Atitlan because of its nature.

Explanation:

Ancient civilizations had a different way of understanding and describing the world. As there wasn't (or there wasn't much) scientific knowledge, they conceived the world based on familiar things.

That is why we don't find it strange to explain the atmospheric phenomena by interesting legends and myths. That's the case with lake Atitlan. This is a lake in Guatemala, very rich in nature. It is surrounded by mountains and volcanoes. That creates a very strong and strange wind called Xocomil. This plentiful and beautiful nature makes this place so special. As they didn't understand the world as we do today, the ancient tribes used to explain them connecting and comparing them with something familiar. Therefore, there live beautiful women, rivers can fall in love and wind can speak.
