The main intent of the Treaty of Versailles after World War I was to end the conflict between nations in Europe.  However, because the treaty imposed very punishing terms on Germany, it ended up creating a situation where further warfare would follow.

Explanation:

The Treaty of Versailles, which came out of the Paris Peace Conference after World War I, was very punitive towards Germany.  Germany was forced to admit responsibility for causing that war.  We call that  "the war guilt" clause of the treaty.  Germany also was forced to pay large reparation payments to the Allies (who opposed Germany in the war).   The German economy and national pride were deeply wounded.  The Great Depression was worse in Germany than in America.  The bad situation in Germany made it possible for a radical leader like Hitler, making all sorts of bold promises, to win over enough people to rise to power.  The rise of Hitler and the Nazis meant Germany became eager for war and conquest, hastening World War II in Europe.

Anna11 [10]
Clemenceau liked the harsh things that were in the Treaty, especially reparations, because they would harm Germany. He liked the tiny German army, and the demilitarised zone in the Rhineland, because he though that this would protect France from attack in the future. ... But he wanted the Treaty to be harsher.

cestrela7 [59]
I believe the correct answer is <span>A. The PAC contributes $6,000 to candidate Kroll and $2,000 to candidate Loon.
This is because the PAC has to treat its candidates equally, and if it gives more money to Kroll, it means that Loon is not equal to him, which would be against the current law.

Conduct Internet research and read the original letter that Chief John Ross wrote to President Lincoln in an effort to assuage h
aleksklad [387]

Chief John Ross wants to assure President Lincoln that his and the Cherokee people's loyalty laid with the Union. He also expresses how Cherokee and the U.S are tied together by a series of treaties based on friendship and alliance to receive protection from the United States and no other sovereign. He affirms that despite having to reach an agreement with the confederates, people were still supporters of the Union and they showed so when the Indian Expedition took place in 1862 and how they manifest their support by fighting under the Union flag. Chief Ross was a defendant of neutrality during the Civil war, unfortunately he couldn't maintain this position and the pressure from other tribal leaders regarding their participation in the Civil War given the history they had with the north after the Trail of Tears forced relocation, most Cherokees were siding more with southern policies.

With this letter, Ross wants to express to President Lincoln that he supports the United States of America and in exchange asks him not to abandon the Cherokee people, to honor former agreements and to protect people's life and property.
