Hi!
The table above is showing how to plug in a variable to x. For an example,
5x - 3 =?
when x= 4 would equal 17. How we would get this is substitute x with 4 and use our order of operations.
5(4) - 3 = 20 - 3 =  17
To get 68, we would do this in reverse. We would add 3 to both sides to eliminate the -3 to have a remainder of
5x  =  71
Divide both sides by five to solve for x.
x = \frac{71}{5}
We can also check our math and plug in 17/5 into x
5( \frac{71}{5} ) - 3 =71 - 3 = 68

Jonah runs 3/5 miles on Sunday and 7/10 miles on Monday.He uses the model to find that he ran a total of 1 mile. What mistake do
antoniya [11.8K]

Answer: He did not convert the fractions into the like fraction to add.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: The distance Jonah runs on Sunday= \frac{3}{5} miles

The distance Jonah runs on Monday= \frac{7}{10} miles

The total distance he ran = \frac{3}{5}+\frac{7}{10}\ miles

Since both the fractions are not like , thus multiply 2 to the numerator and the denominator of the first fraction [to add fractions first convert them into like fractions], we get

The total distance he ran = \frac{3\times2}{5\times2}+\frac{7}{10}\ miles

=\frac{6}{10}+\frac{7}{10}=\frac{6+7}{10}\\\\=\frac{13}{10}=1\frac{3}{10}\ miles

The right answer is "The total distance he ran =1\frac{3}{10}\ miles"

Consider a parabola P that is congruent to y=x^2, opens upward, and has vertex (0,0). Find the equation of a new parabola that r

Answer:

  y = -(x+1)^2 +3

Step-by-step explanation:

Translating f(x) left by 1 unit replaces x with x+1.

Translating f(x) up by 3 units replaces f(x) with f(x)+3.

Reflecting f(x) over the x-axis replaces f(x) with -f(x).

__

When y = x^2 is reflected over the x-axis, it becomes ...

  y = -x^2

When y = -x^2 is translated 1 unit left, it becomes ...

  y = -(x +1)^2

When y = -(x+1)^2 is translated 3 units up, it becomes ...

  y = -(x +1)^2 +3

Can someone help with number 20
enyata [817]

Answer:B: 36°

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that ∆ABC is isoceles, making (angle)<ABC and <BCA congruent because base angles of isoceles triangles are congruent.

Because we have parallel lines, we can look for alternate interior angle pairs. <BCA is congruent to <DAC because they're alternate interior angles.

If <BCA is x then so is <ABC.

Since triangles add up to 180° we can add all of the angles (3x+x+x) and set it equal to 180.

3x+x+x=180

5x=180

x=36

If we were looking for <BAC we would plug that back in and solve, but we're looking for <BCA which is equal to x, therefore m<BCA=36°
