Hi!
The table above is showing how to plug in a variable to x. For an example,
5x - 3 =?
when x= 4 would equal 17. How we would get this is substitute x with 4 and use our order of operations.
5(4) - 3 = 20 - 3 =  17
To get 68, we would do this in reverse. We would add 3 to both sides to eliminate the -3 to have a remainder of
5x  =  71
Divide both sides by five to solve for x.
x = \frac{71}{5}
We can also check our math and plug in 17/5 into x
5( \frac{71}{5} ) - 3 =71 - 3 = 68

Maslowich

Bias refers to scenarios which might affect the ability of a statistical experiment to generalize, hence affecting the validity of research. Non-response bias occurs when majority of subjects <em>fail to respond during a survey</em>. Hence, a likely scenario is ; <em>surveys were mailed to 500 people, and 200 of the surveys were completed and </em><em>returned</em><em>.</em><em> </em>

  • Non - response bias has to do with a situation whereby a large percentage of the selected samples from a population do not respond or fail to participate in the experiment or survey.

  • If 200 surveys were returned, then 300 of the sample participants did not respond. Which means <em>60% of the sample are non-responsive</em>.

Therefore, a scenario where <em>surveys were mailed to 500 people, and 200 of the surveys were completed and </em><em>returned</em><em> </em>exemplifies a non - response bias.

1. The structure of the supports for the hill consists of steel beams that
Darina [25.2K]

a) Parallel for both line segments have the same slope = -5/4

b)  55º

Step-by-step explanation:

a) To verify the parallelism of these line segments, It's necessary to find the slope of each one. Parallel lines share the same slope value:

m_{BC}=\frac{0-150}{120-0}=-\frac{-5}{4}\\m_{AD}=\frac{0-125}{100-0}=-\frac{5}{4}

b) If ∠DAB = 125°, what is the measure of ∠CBA? Justify your reasoning.

Those beams do not form a parallelogram because:

Using the formula of distance between those points

d=\sqrt{(y_{2}-y_1)^{2}-(x_{2}-x_{1})^2

\overline {AB}=25\: \: \: \overline{CD}=20\: \: \overline{AD}=160 \: \: \overline{BC}=192

So this is a trapezoid.  And two adjacent angles within a trapezoid are supplementary, so If ∠DAB = 125º then 180 - ∠CBA=55º
