John and his son are building a boxcar for a group competition. According to the rules of the competition, the length of the car

must be 3 inches greater than its width. Also, the width of the car must be at least 2 inches greater than the radii of the wheels. When they signed up for the competition, they were given a kit containing everything they needed to build the car except for the base and the wheels. According to the rules of the competition, they must spend no more than $50. The cost of the base will be $0.50 per square inch and the cost of each of the 4 wheels will be $2.25 per inch of radius. If x represents the width of the car and y represents the radii of the wheels, then which of the following systems of inequalities can be used to determine the length and width of the car and the radii of the wheels?

Answer:

x ≥ y + 2

0.50 (x) (x+3) + 2.25 (4) (y) ≤ 50

Step-by-step explanation:

x = width of the car

x+3 = length of the car

y = radius of the car

The width must be at least 2 inches greater than the radius, so:

x ≥ y + 2

The total cost must be no more than $50, so:

0.50 (x) (x+3) + 2.25 (4) (y) ≤ 50

Simplify (3x² + 2y² - 5x + y) + (2x² - 2xy - 2y² - 5x + 3y).
prohojiy [21]

The simplified form for (3x² + 2y² - 5x + y) + (2x² - 2xy - 2y² -5x + 3y) is (5x² + 0y² - 10x + 4y - 2xy).

A quadratic equation is what?

At least one squared term must be present because a quadratic is a second-degree polynomial equation. It is also known as quadratic equations. The answers to the issue are the values of the x that satisfy the quadratic equation. These solutions are called the roots or zeros of the quadratic equations. The solutions to the given equation are any polynomial's roots. A polynomial equation with a maximum degree of two is known as a quadratic equation, or simply quadratics.

How is an equation made simpler?

The equation can be made simpler by adding up all of the coefficients for the specified correspondent term through constructive addition or subtraction of terms, as suggested in the question.

Given, the equation is (3x² + 2y² - 5x + y) + (2x² - 2xy - 2y² -5x + 3y)
Removing brackets and the adding we get,
3x² + 2x² + 2y² - 2y² + (- 5x) + (- 5x) + y + 3y + (- 2xy) = (5x² + 0y² - 10x + 4y - 2xy)

A line has a slope of 8 and a y-intercept of 0 what is its equation in slope intercept form
Deffense [45]
Slope-intercept form is y = mx + b.
In this form, m is slope and b is y-intercept.
Slope is rise over run. The formula for this is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1).
Y-intercept is the value of y when x is equal to 0.

1. Slope = 8 ; Y-intercept = 0
y = mx + b
m = 8 ; b = 0
y = 8x + 0
y = 8x

2. Slope = 1 ; Y-intercept = 2
y = mx + b
m = 1 ; b = 2
y = 1x + 2
y = x + 2

The answer to #1 is y = 8x.
The answer to #2 is y = x + 2.

Hope this helps!

A circle has a diameter of 14cm. what is the area of the circle, rounded to the rearest tenth?
natali 33 [55]
To find the area of a circle.

We first need the radius.

This is quite simple, the radius is half of the diameter
Knowing the diameter is 14
14 divided by 2 = 7.

Now for a circle here is the equation
A = Area

A = π r ^2

So we have the radius being 7 but now it needs to be squared.

7 x 7 = 49.

So now our equation is.

A = π 49 ^2         (Keep in mind ^2 is just squared)

Now this is the answer but we can get more technical by multiplying 49 times π

Now π equals roughly 3.14

So we can do 49 x 3.14 cm
Which this equals 153.86

Which rounding to the nearest tenth gets you:

153.9 cm is your area

I really do hope this helps!
