He seems much more interested in learning about how the universe works, regardless of what conclusions his findings take him to. Perhaps not all of his people will react to the news the same way, but the narrator himself is likely better off knowing why time appears to be speeding up, as satisfying his curiosity about the world seems to be his primary objective.
