What were the causes of the Mexican-American War? What was the course of the conflict and the results?

History

The origins of the Mexican-American War can largely be traced back to Texas winning its independence from Mexico in 1836. Following his defeat at the Battle of San Jacinto (4/21/1836), Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna was captured and forced to recognize the sovereignty of the Republic of Texas in exchange for his freedom. The Mexican government, however, refused to honor Santa Anna’s agreement, stating that he was not authorized to make such a deal and that it still considered Texas a province in rebellion.

Any thoughts the Mexican government had of recovering the territory quickly were eliminated when the new Republic of Texas received diplomatic recognition from the United States, Great Britain, and France.

Write a paragraph describing how countries decide what goods to export and what goods to import.
IRINA_888 [86]

Answer:

Countries decide what to export and  import depending on the necessity and current trade levels. Countries participate with others in trades to benefit from each other in this mutualism. Countries decide what to export depending on the need and popularity of a product in another country. This needs to be reevaluated constantly, so they can continue making money, and that the trade generates revenue. Exportation and importation is highly influenced by government policies, and by availability of a product. Many countries limit their imports, encouraging consumers to purchase from the country's own stock, benefiting the countries individual economy. Importing is done to receive products that are not easily acquired in the country where they reside in. Trade needs to be balanced, and continuously happening, otherwise, friendly relations, due to benefiting the other's economy, could turn sour.

Socialism has been around for a long time in one form or the other as it basically calls for the resources of a nation to be shared by its citizens in such a way that everyone is taken care of.

It however gained a lot of ground in the 19th century when the industrial revolution led to massive income inequality as a result of the capitalist system. People like Karl Marx began to advocate socialism as a way to address this income inequality.
