I am redesigning a rectangular prism in geometry where I have to minimize the surface area while maintaining the same volume. I

have to recreate three of these. Now My original prism has a surface area of 122.5in^2 and a volume of 58.75in^3. I want to make my first redesign, a shpere. How would I do that. For my second one, a square pyramid, and the third one a cylinder. How would I recreate these with the same volume, but smaller surface area?The length is 5 inches, the height is 4.7 inches,and the width is 2.5 inches

Think about a really long, flat 3-dimensional object. This has a certain volume, and a certain (big) surface area because of its length. Now, make the 3-dimensional object fat and maintain the volume. Notice how you have minimized surface area but maintained volume. This is how I would go about solving it.

How does the structure of a trinomial with a leading coefficient of 1 and a positive constant help to factor it?
mixer [17]

Answer:

See explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

If a quadratic trinomial has a leading coefficient of 1 and a positive constant, then it is very easy to factor.

You just have to look for two factors of the constant term that add up to the coefficient of x( the middle term).

Then you write as factors.

For instance;

{x}^{2}  +5 x + 6

To factors of 6 that add up to 5 are 2 and 3.

Therefore the factorization is:

(x + 2)(x + 3)

Answer:

  x ≈ 23.4

Step-by-step explanation:

You are correct that the given information indicates the tangent function is appropriate.

  Tan = Opposite/Adjacent

  tan(59°) = 39/x

Multiply this equation by x/tan(59°) and you get ...

  x = 39/tan(59°)

  x ≈ 39/1.6643 ≈ 23.43

The appropriate answer choice is ...

  x = 23.4
