well if you think about it, Achilles death was the direct result of his pride. When Achilles refuses to fight after his pride is wounded by Agamemnon, his cousin Patroclus wants to fight in the battle and so he takes Achilles armor and rides into battle with the rest of the Myrmidons who think that they are following Achilles. Patroclus ends up being killed by Prince Hector, who thought he was Achilles. This causes Achilles to go and kill Hector, but once that happens he drags the body around behind his chariot which really angered of the Trojans. So the next time he went to battle Paris shot an arrow at him (which was guided by Apollo) which struck his heel and killed him.
