The Chesapeake Bay Program is a regional partnership that aims to restore the Chesapeake Bay, it brings together various states, federal, academic and local organizations to adopt several policies.

The Program started in the 1970s and 80s because three areas needed attention: toxic pollution, nutrient over-enrichment, and underwater bay grasses.

If the Program never been founded the number of nutrients would be reduced by 40%, this would cause damages to the rivers and natural life. The Program is very important to save the bay and without it probably it would all be a dead zone with o crab population.
