In the passage the author states that "The Great Wave...is a hybrid work". It is influenced by both Japanese and European elements. The author comes to the conclusion that Hokusai must have studied European prints from Dutch importers. Besides color, the painting also shows the element of European perspective with the image of Mount Fuji off in the distance. Because the painting infuses these two styles, the answer cannot be C as it is not traditional. Also, A is incorrect because it does not contain just Japanese techniques. B is also wrong because it just is.
