Roosevelt essentially took the opposite approach as Hoover in taking on the Great Depression. Herbert Hoover thought that America and its economy could naturally recover from the Depression in due course, so he adamantly restrained the federal government from intervening on behalf of the people affected. On the other hand, Roosevelt dramatically increased employment by expanding the federal government and establishing agencies that would aid in relieving some of the country's worst problems.

Germany invaded Austria in 1938, with a partial acceptance of the Austrians because they believed that the two countries should merge based on their cultural similarities.
It also later invaded Czekoslovakia in 1939 and later in the year Poland and started World War II.
One event that highlighted the weaknesses of the Articles of
Confederation would be Shay's Rebellion. When citizens started causing
trouble, the wealthier citizens had to pay for their own soldiers and
protection because the Articles of Confederation didn't give the country
the power to create a standing army.
