The election of the president is an indirect election that takes every four years. It is an indirect election in which eligible voters cast their votes for electoral officers (electors), who in turn cast their electoral votes for the president and vice presidential candidates.

Among the presidential candidates, whoever receives absolute majority votes from the electors will emerge as the president of the United States. In other words, a presidential candidate must receive at least 270 votes to be elected.

If no candidates receive at least 270 electoral votes for president, the United States House of Representatives will decide the winner and if no candidates get absolutes electoral votes for the office of the Vice president, then the Senate will select the winner.
