Make a system of equation
For an instance, x represents the first angle and y represents the second angle. Make a system of equation for the problem.
"The first angle measures 16° less than the second angle" could be written
⇒ x = y - 16° (first equation)
The two angles are complementary angles, that means the sum of the two angles is equal to 90° or we could write it as
⇒ x + y = 90° (second equation)

Solve the system of equation
We work using substitution method, change x with y-16 in the second equation
x + y = 90°
y - 16° + y = 90°
2y - 16° = 90°
2y = 90° + 16°
2y = 106°
  y = 106°/2
  y = 53°
The second angle measurement is 53°

Substitute 53 to y in either of both equations
x = y - 16°
x = 53° - 16°
x = 37°
The first angle measurement is 37°

= 90°/2
= 45°

x = 45° - 16°
x = 29°

y = 45° + 16°
y = 61°

61° and 29° i guess.

A while back, either james borrowed $12 from his friend rita or she borrowed $12 from him, but he can’t quite remember which. ei

To answer the question let x be the amount of money James will have after he sees Rita. If it was him who owed Rita $12 and he intent to pay, he will have $42.80 - $12 after seeing her. However, if it was Rita who owed him the amount, the money he will have after seeing her will be $42.80 + $12. Thus, the equations are,
                      x = 42.80 - 12          and           x = 42.80 + 12

How many terms are in this equation <br> 8y-6y^2/7^3
vlada-n [284]

Answer:

2

Step-by-step explanation:

You count terms that are seperated by - and + signs. Any type of fraction is considered one term.

So you count 8y as one term and the rest is a whole fraction so you also count that as one term.

You add all the terms together and you have 2 terms in this equation.

Hope this helped :)
