     During the Republic, the conquest of new lands was a determining factor for the social features of Rome to undergo numerous transformations. From the outset, the agropastoral economy disputed space with an articulated trade between several regions near the Mediterranean. The increased supply of slaves has established an increase in the supply of food. At the same time, generals and magistrates benefited from the administration and taxation of the new provinces.

    Patrician control over the Senate has made this class even more enriched by the expansion of its properties and the widespread use of slave labor. Despite generating incredible wealth production, this new reality greatly damaged smallholders, who could not compete with the price of food offered by the patricians. On the other hand, several commoners lost employment opportunities with the use of slaves.
