Answer:
1). Selecting and forming a claim about a specific topic.
2). Identifying evidence to include to support your reasons.
3). Investigating counterclaims that go against your claim.
Explanation:
An argumentative essay is characterized as the essay that offers both the sides(in support and counter) of the argument.
Writing is a creative yet recursive process and pre-writing is the initial stage of this process. While researching an argumentative essay, the first pre-writing step would be 'the selection of a topic that you wish to argue upon and formation of a claim to reflect your position in the argument.' The next step would involve <u>'looking for the evidence to substantiate your claim as well as reasons and justify your position before the audience'</u> that persuades them logically. The next crucial step would be 'to investigate the counterclaims that oppose your claim' as it helps in establishing the credibility of the argument. The final stage is 'refutation of these claims with appropriate logic and evidence' that substantiates the author's claim and position. Thus, <u>options 1, 2, and 3</u> are the correct answers.

1. Sometimes it is more difficult to concentrate if you use active listening skills because you have to simultaneously understand what you are being told and reassure the speakers that you understand them by using verbal affirmations like for example "Sure", "I understand", "I see", etc. So, for me it sometimes caused me trouble trying to use active listening skills like nodding, establishing eye contact or paraphrasing what the speakers said in order to show them that I was involved.
2. Some of my friends and family responded differently to my active listening and seemed to be more excited about what they were talking about because I seemed to be really interested in what they had to say.
3. I also felt a little bit differently because active listening is more demanding than passive listening and it required greater effort from my part.
