<em>Thomas Paine</em> wrote the <em>"American Crisis"</em>, a collection of articles written during the American Revolutionary War.  

Paine wrote “Common Sense” written in 1776, a famous pamphlet supporting the Independence from England. The essays he wrote refers to his support for a government just for America. History says that General Washington found the first essay so inspiring that he ordered that it be read to the army before going to battle.

Crisis number IV –dated September 12, 1777- says that the men who expect to get of freedom, first, must go through the sacrifice to supporting it.
