Often referred to as the greatest of Byzantine emperor's, Justinian reorganized the governing of the Empire and set about achieving his goal of reconquering the defunct Western Roman Empire. Sadly he only achieved this goal in part.

Flavius Belisarius was a skilled commander in the Byzantine sent who was instrumental in conquering some of the lost Wester Roman Empire. He did this by reorganizing the army to make it a more efficient force.

- Theodora

A Saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church, Empress Theodora was married to Emperor Justinian and through her position brought about the recognition of women's rights thereby increasing their legal standing.

- Tribonian

A jurist during the time of Justinian. Justinian elevated him to the position of Quaestor Sacri Palatii which translated meant the Quaestor of the Sacred Palace making him Byzantine's foremost legal authority.
