I think that were called Boxers. They were the protagonists of a rebellion against foreign influence (well, basically, occupation) of parts of China at the end of 1800. They fought against one of the first coalitions (mainly of European countries) of forces, of various countries such as British, German, French, Italian, Austrian, US, Russian and Japanese among others.
