How was the segregation enforced in the north
defon

Answer:

After the United States abolished slavery, Black Americans continued to be marginalized through enforced segregated and diminished access to facilities, housing, education—and opportunities.

Explanation:

Racial segregation existed throughout the United States, North, and South. As one historian of segregation has written, "no reflective historian any longer believes" that Northern states were innocent of the historical crimes of slavery and later segregation. By the twentieth century, Jim Crow laws were not generally on the books of Northern states and cities (though they had been in the nineteenth century.) Nor were racial attitudes as hardened in Northern states as in the Jim Crow South. But segregation, and the racist assumptions that undergirded it, existed north of the Mason-Dixon line too. The difference between segregation in the two regions is usually summarized as "de facto" versus "de jure." Southern racial hierarchies were in fact rigidly enforced by laws that established inflexible boundaries, intended not just to segregate but to establish and maintain white supremacy. In Northern cities in particular, though, segregation was enforced by other means. Neighborhoods,

What methods did Roosevelt use to aid Britain in its struggle with Nazi Germany, while still technically keeping the US neutral?
lara31 [8.8K]

Answer 1: Although constrained by powerful isolationist sentiment in the United States, President Roosevelt was determined to help democratic Great Britain continue the war against Nazi Germany. Even as he promised to keep the United States neutral in the European war, Roosevelt ordered the expansion of military construction and pledged--as shown in this footage--that the United States would serve as the "great arsenal of democracy." In March 1941, Congress approved Lend-Lease aid for Britain. Britain ultimately received over 31 billion dollars in military aid from the United states. The United States finally entered World War II after the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Answer 2: The effect was Roosevelt soon took advantage of his authority under the new law, ordering large quantities of U.S. food and war materials to be shipped to Britain from U.S. ports through the new Office of Lend-Lease Administration. The supplies dispersed under the Lend-Lease Act ranged from tanks, aircraft, ships, weapons and road building supplies to clothing, chemicals and food.
