Savannah is located in the Eastern Time Zone. Los Angeles is located in the Pacific Time Zone. The difference between these time zones is three hours, because in between them lie two other time zones, the Central Time Zone and the Mountain Time Zone.
As such, if one wanted to call their grandmother (or anyone else for that matter) and have the call be at lunchtime, her time, he or she should make the call at 3 in the afternoon Savannah time.
