The following excerpt from Part 2 of The Odyssey is cited properly in MLA style:

“Last of them all my ram, the leader, came, /

weighted by wool and me with my meditations” (Homer 376-377).

Explanation:

In MLA style, an in-text citation should contain the author's last name (in this case his first name because that's how he is widely known) followed by the page number(s). The author and page numbers should be inside the parenthesis without commas or periods. The period should go after closing the parenthesis. On the other hand, one can only put the page numbers inside the parenthesis, if one cited the author previously in the same sentence, for example: Homer wrote "....." (376-377).
