Adam has a cowboy hat, a top hat, and a Malaysian hat called a songkok. He also has four shirts: white,
saw5 [17]

The probability that he choose the songkok and the black shirt would be 1/3. 1/4.

What is probability?

Probability is the extent to which an event is likely to be occur and how likely is the proposition is true.

If there are two independent events A and B in the experiment, then the probability that both the event occur would be- P( A and B ) = P( A ) . P( B )

Both are the independent event , so the choice of hat has no effect on the choice of shirt.

There are three different hats, so the probability of choosing the songkok is 13 and four different shirts, so the probability of choosing the black shirt is 14.

According to the Multiplication Rule: the probability of(songkok and black shirt) = 1/3 . 1/4)

                          = 1/12
