In Environmental Science Radiation is very important because many natural processes rely on the interaction with the radiation from the sun. Radiation is classified by wavelengths visible spectrum is at about 380 to 740 nanometers, Infrared radiation wavelength is at 700 to 1050 nanometers.

Environmental Science use IR a lot in the studies because organisms heat is emitted in this radiation, because of there are many applications to the IR, Such as Climatology when studying the solar radiation absorption and reflection, Geography when analyzing satellite imagery or Biology for having a better understanding of organisms with the capabilities to capture Infrared radiation or to measure the density of a forest.
