Implicit means something not clearly stated, so implicit details are details that are not clearly stated. Or rather, they are details that are more implied, rather than given. And how they contribute to the story is that they make the reader figure things out, so it isn't just another easy story to read, but it is a little more difficult to read, because you have to figure things out. hope this answer helps :)
