At 60° N latitude the dominant climate zones are the temperate climate zones. this climate zones are characteristic with having seasons, four of them, spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The temperatures vary significantly throughout the year, so there's a warm summer, and very cold winter, with spring and autumn being rainy and with moderate temperatures. This climate zones are almost totally lying on the Northern Hemisphere where there's much more land on this latitude, and a very small land areas in the Southern Hemisphere which is mostly dominated by ocean waters at this latitude.

What is the value of X6? <br><br> Show the solution.
wariber [46]

Answer : The value of x_6 is \sqrt{7}.

Explanation :

As we are given 6 right angled triangle in the given figure.

First we have to calculate the value of x_1.

Using Pythagoras theorem in triangle 1 :

(Hypotenuse)^2=(Perpendicular)^2+(Base)^2

(x_1)^2=(1)^2+(1)^2

x_1=\sqrt{(1)^2+(1)^2}

x_1=\sqrt{2}

Now we have to calculate the value of x_2.

Using Pythagoras theorem in triangle 2 :

(Hypotenuse)^2=(Perpendicular)^2+(Base)^2

(x_2)^2=(1)^2+(X_1)^2

(x_2)^2=(1)^2+(\sqrt{2})^2

x_2=\sqrt{(1)^2+(\sqrt{2})^2}

x_2=\sqrt{3}

Now we have to calculate the value of x_3.

Using Pythagoras theorem in triangle 3 :

(Hypotenuse)^2=(Perpendicular)^2+(Base)^2

(x_3)^2=(1)^2+(X_2)^2

(x_3)^2=(1)^2+(\sqrt{3})^2

x_3=\sqrt{(1)^2+(\sqrt{3})^2}

x_3=\sqrt{4}

Now we have to calculate the value of x_4.

Using Pythagoras theorem in triangle 4 :

(Hypotenuse)^2=(Perpendicular)^2+(Base)^2

(x_4)^2=(1)^2+(X_3)^2

(x_4)^2=(1)^2+(\sqrt{4})^2

x_4=\sqrt{(1)^2+(\sqrt{4})^2}

x_4=\sqrt{5}

Now we have to calculate the value of x_5.

Using Pythagoras theorem in triangle 5 :

(Hypotenuse)^2=(Perpendicular)^2+(Base)^2

(x_5)^2=(1)^2+(X_4)^2

(x_5)^2=(1)^2+(\sqrt{5})^2

x_5=\sqrt{(1)^2+(\sqrt{5})^2}

x_5=\sqrt{6}

Now we have to calculate the value of x_6.

Using Pythagoras theorem in triangle 6 :

(Hypotenuse)^2=(Perpendicular)^2+(Base)^2

(x_6)^2=(1)^2+(X_5)^2

(x_6)^2=(1)^2+(\sqrt{6})^2

x_6=\sqrt{(1)^2+(\sqrt{6})^2}

x_6=\sqrt{7}

Therefore, the value of x_6 is \sqrt{7}.

The distance between two towns on a map measures 4.8cm. If the scale of the map is 1:250000 what would the actual distance be?
Archy [21]

The actual distance will be 12 km.

<u>Explanation</u>:

The scale of the map is 1:250000

1 cm in the map represents 250000 cm.

250000cm=2500 m=2.5 km

the measurement in the map is 4.8 cm

since 1 cm represents 250000 cm or 2.5 km

The actual distance represented by 4.8 cm on the map = 4.8*250000 cm =1,200,000 cm=12000 m=12 km
