O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
attashe74 [19]
Whitman uses visual, auditory, and tactile imagery in the poem's first stanza. When he says "The ship has weather'd every rack", he conveys the feeling of exhaustion. (The ship is, of course, an allegory of America, whereas the Captain stands for President Lincoln, who was just assassinated.) "The bells I hear" is an auditory expression, which supports the people's exaltation, but also resembles the sound of death bells which mourn the Captain's death. The vessel is "grim and daring", grim because the trip had been extremely hard, but the cause was daring. "The bleeding drops of red" is a striking image of the tragedy of Lincoln's death. The blood was shed, so it was not a natural death. The Captain is "cold", which is an example of tactile imagery.

As a whole, this stanza juxtaposes two kinds of mood: the exaltation about the Captain's glorious deeds, as well as pathos and tragedy because of his death. The imagery makes the poem all the more exciting, as it lets us see, hear, and feel the speaker's state of mind - which is a fusion of personal and collective feeling toward America's journey to freedom and Lincoln's pivotal role in it.

Which sentence describes a key difference in the way that the novel The War of the Worlds was written and the way the radio broa
slamgirl [31]

Answer: B.The novel was written in past tense, and the radio broadcast was presented in present tense.

The War of the Worlds is a novel by H. G. Wells, first published in 1897 by Pearson's Magazine. It tells the story of the conflict between humans and a race of aliens. The novel uses the past tense.

On the other hand, the transcript of the radio broadcast uses the present tense. This is one of the reasons why the broadcast is so famous nowadays. An "urban myth" (as its veracity is disputed) says that when the broadcast aired on October 30, 1938 over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network, it caused panic among the listening audience, who thought the alien invasion was a piece of news.

What conclusions can you draw about how the author views the Loch Ness monster and Bigfoot based on where that subject is placed
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Answer: One reason that the author says the loch ness monster is just a figment or our imaginations is because there have been no increased sightings since the invention and prevalence of cellphones and digital cameras. Even with the use of satellite technology, no scientists have ever been able to find anything in the loch. When the BBC tested the imagination theory, they used a fence post and had it rise out of the water in front of tourists. when later asked to draw what they had seen, they all drew the iconic monster head.

One popular theory is that Nessie is a plesiosaur from the last ice age; however, it is impossible for one have survived this long for all of these years, especially with so little food in the lake.
