<span>8)  </span> not equal, not equal, equal
9)   1/8 of a pound is in each portion
10)   $3.75

I hope this helps you. With number 8, all i did was simplify the fractions and see if the can be equal to the first fraction in the whole question and determined my answer by that. For number 9, i divided 1/2 of a pound by 2 and got 1/4 of a pound, and then divided that by 2, and i got the answer of 1/8 of a pound. When it come to number 10, i multiplied $0.50 by 7 and got $3.50, and since the last part was half a foot i knew it would cost $0.25 instead of $0.50, so i just added that to the answer and got the end result of $3.75.

Given : Diameter of the right circular cone ==> 8 cm

It means : The Radius of the right circular cone is 4 cm (as Radius is half of the Diameter)

Given : Volume of the right circular cone ==> 48π cm³

We know that :

\bigstar \ \ \boxed{\textsf{Volume of a right circular cone is given by : $\pi r^2\dfrac{h}{3}$}}

where : r is the radius of the circular cross-section.

             h is the height of the right circular cone.

Substituting the respective values in the formula, we get :

\mathsf{\implies \pi \times (4)^2 \times \dfrac{h}{3} = 48\pi}

\mathsf{\implies 16 \times \dfrac{h}{3} = 48}

\mathsf{\implies \dfrac{h}{3} = 3}

\implies \boxed{\mathsf{h= 9 \ cm}}

<u>Answer</u> : Height of the given right circular cone is 9 cm

How do I solve part A
seraphim [82]

Answer:

The solution of this expression is x_{1} = -1 and x_{2} = -\frac{1}{2}.

Step-by-step explanation:

The procedure for solution of exercise A is described below:

1) We expand the expression.

2) The resulting expression is rearranged into the form of a second order polynomial.

3) Roots are found by Quadratic Formula.

Step 1:

2\cdot x \cdot (x+1.5) = -1

2\cdot (x^{2}+1.5\cdot x) = -1

2\cdot x^{2} + 3\cdot x = -1

Step 2:

2\cdot x^{2}+3\cdot x +1 = 0

Step 3:

x_{1, 2} = \frac{-3\pm \sqrt{3^{2}-4\cdot (2)\cdot (1)}}{2\cdot (2)}

x_{1,2} = -\frac{3}{4}\pm \frac{1}{4}

x_{1,2} = \frac{-3\pm 1}{4}

The solution of this expression is x_{1} = -1 and x_{2} = -\frac{1}{2}.
