Earl Warren (1891-1974) was a prominent 20th century leader of American politics and law. Elected California governor in 1942, Warren secured major reform legislation during his three terms in office. After failing to claim the Republican nomination for the presidency, he was appointed the 14th chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court in 1953. The landmark case of his tenure was Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka (1954), in which the Court unanimously determined the segregation of schools to be unconstitutional. The Warren Court also sought electoral reforms, equality in criminal justice and the defense of human rights before its chief justice retired in 1969.

The Warren Court refers to the Supreme Court of the United States during the period when Earl Warren served as Chief Justice. Warren replaced the deceased Fred M. Vinson as Chief Justice in 1953, and Warren remained in office until he retired in 1969. Warren was succeeded as Chief Justice by Warren Burger.

Warren led a liberal majority that used judicial power in dramatic fashion, to the consternation of conservative opponents. The Warren Court expanded civil rights, civil liberties, judicial power, and the federal power in dramatic ways.

The court was both applauded and criticized for bringing an end to racial segregation in the United States, incorporating the Bill of Rights (i.e. including it in the 14th Amendment Due Process clause), and ending officially sanctioned voluntary prayer in public schools. The period is recognized as the highest point in judicial power that has receded ever since, but with a substantial continuing impact.

Both the Kalinga and the Fourth Pillar edicts emphasize ideas of uniform rather than arbitrary punishments. Why would this idea
r-ruslan [8.4K]

Explanation:

In both Buddhism and Hinduism, the pillar symbolized the axis mundi (the axis on which the planet spins) (the axis on which the world spins). The pillars and edicts represent the first tangible signs of the Buddhist religion. The inscriptions affirm the Buddhism of Ashoka and endorse his intention to spread the Dharma in his whole Empire.

Ashoka showed great concern for fairness in the exercise of justice, caution and tolerance in the application of sentences, and regularly pardoned prisoners. However, uniformity of the trialsand punishment should be desirable. From now on,this is my instruction.Three days' rest shall be granted to men who are imprisoned or sentenced to death.

Thus their partnerships will appeal for their survival, or they can make donations or swift to a better redemption in the next life where no one has them to plead for.For I would like you to conquer the next world
